The company, founded in 2013, introduces devices that mine Bitcoin while heating indoor spaces.
Canaan, a leader in mining hardware production, unveiled two home-use devices at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The Avalon Mini 3 and Nano 3S combine Bitcoin mining capabilities with home heating functionality.
The Avalon Mini 3 offers a computing power of 37.5 TH/s and can function as a heating system for medium-sized domestic spaces. NG Zhang, CEO of Canaan, stated:
“We are committed to making Bitcoin mining accessible to everyone by offering practical and accessible solutions. We’re reimagining how technology can create value while minimizing environmental waste.”
The device, available for pre-order at $899, stands out for its sleek design and quiet operation. The heat generated during mining is not wasted but recovered and used as a heating source for the home.
The company also introduced the Avalon Nano 3S, an upgraded version of the previous Nano 3. With its 6 TH/s, it serves as an entry-level solution for those new to mining. This more compact model, priced at $249, is suitable for heating smaller spaces, such as a desk or a small workspace.
