The European Parliament representative supports Bitcoin as a tool for protecting against inflation and state control.
On January 27, Member of the European Parliament René Aust, member of the German AfD party, took a stance in favor of Bitcoin, outlining it as a crucial instrument for safeguarding citizens’ financial freedom.
In his speech at the European Parliament, Aust highlighted growing concerns about monetary manipulation by governments, pointing to the policies of central banks. Aust stated:
“Since its introduction in 2001, the euro has lost more than a third of its purchasing power, which is why many citizens want tamper-proof currency.”
The parliamentarian then made an appeal to his colleagues, urging them not to fear innovation but to embrace its opportunities. “We must seize the opportunities offered to us, not fear them,” he said, emphasizing how Bitcoin can serve as a shield against financial surveillance and censorship.
