Ben Armstrong, Crypto-Influencer Known as ‘BitBoy’, Arrested During a Live Video
On September 26, 2023, Ben Armstrong, an influencer in the cryptocurrency field known as ‘BitBoy’, was subject to an arrest during a live video. Armstrong now faces serious legal allegations stemming from this incident.
From arrest to charges: Event details
Armstrong was conducting a live broadcast from an ex-partner’s home when the incident took place. This led to a detention period in Georgia prison of over eight hours, as confirmed by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. Although later released on bail, Armstrong is now charged with “intrusive vagrancy” and “simple assault, instilling fear in another”, with bail set at $2,600 and additional costs of $40.
Armstrong took the situation lightly, hinting at it on his Twitter profile with the post: “My name is Ben and I’m a vagrant. I’ve been in jail for 8 hours.”
Cryptocurrency community reaction and fund collection
Armstrong was excluded from the BitBoy Crypto channel, due to ongoing legal issues. The future of the channel remains uncertain, as Armstrong struggles to regain control of it.
The recent arrest was sparked by a visit made by Armstrong to his ex-partner, Carlos Diaz’s, whom he accused of possessing his Lamborghini. During the live stream, which was later deleted, Armstrong expressed his grievances leading to his arrest.
In response to the situation, Armstrong appealed to his community of followers to cover the legal costs to regain control of BitBoy Crypto. This appeal received a broad response, with a fundraising campaign that raised over $54,000 in Ethereum, Bitcoin and Cardano in a short time.
