The FBI has launched an investigation into the participants of the TABConf 2022 in Atlanta, an event dedicated to Bitcoin developers: the reasons for the investigation.
On April 10, Mike Schmidt, director of the non-profit organization Brink, sent an email to the participants of TABConf 2022, stating that the FBI sent a subpoena requesting information on those who participated in the October 2022 event. According to the email, the investigation is related to the theft of over 200 bitcoins suffered by developer Luke Dashjr in December 2022.
The subpoena requests data such as GitHub usernames, first and last names, and email addresses of the participants. The information requested is less extensive than the initial subpoena received by Schmidt.
