Australian police have arrested four men involved in thefts of cryptocurrency ATMs and rare collector cards.

Australian police have dismantled a criminal organization responsible for a series of thefts targeting cryptocurrency ATMs and collectible card stores across Melbourne. The operation led to the discovery of what authorities described as a “Aladdin’s cave” filled with stolen goods.

The investigation revealed that the group had stolen six cryptocurrency ATMs and approximately $50,000 worth of collectible cards. According to a statement released by the Victoria Police on February 17, the criminal organization operated through “a significant network of offenders.”

During searches, investigators recovered a large quantity of stolen items, including:

  • Firearms
  • 100 car keys
  • A pill press
  • Numerous power tools
  • Collectible cards from Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Magic: The Gathering

According to investigators, the group used stolen vehicles to carry out their crimes.

The operation led to the arrest of four men. One of them faces 14 charges for burglary targeting cryptocurrency ATMs and gaming stores, as well as trafficking in stolen goods and illegal possession of firearms. His court hearing is scheduled for May 2. Another suspect has been charged with five commercial thefts, three vehicle thefts, driving without a license, and possession of a prohibited weapon, with a court appearance on February 21. The other two men have been released while investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Patrick Watkinson from the North West Metro Regional Crime Squad stated that, while the police have arrested the main suspects, there are suspected links to a much larger criminal organization. He added that authorities have also identified lower-level offenders involved in distributing the stolen goods, as well as connections to Middle Eastern criminal organizations directing these illegal activities.
