The asset manager has surpassed $383,000 in total donations supporting developers who maintain and secure the Bitcoin network.

Bitwise announced Wednesday a $233,000 donation to open-source Bitcoin developers, bringing its total contributions to $383,000 since 2024. This marks the company’s second annual payment, funded through 10% of the gross profits generated by its Bitcoin ETF, the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB).

The first contribution, amounting to $150,000, was distributed in February 2025 following BITB’s first full year of operation. The $233,000 donation implies that Bitwise generated $2.33 million in gross profits from BITB in its second year. The company charges a 0.2% fee on the fund’s assets under management.

The funds will be distributed by three nonprofit organizations: Brink, OpenSats, and the Human Rights Foundation, through its Bitcoin Development Fund. “Bitwise is proud to donate $233,000 to support the unsung heroes who maintain and secure the Bitcoin network,” the company wrote on X on Wednesday. The commitment to allocate 10% of gross profits to developers was announced around the launch of BITB in January 2024.

In the statement, Bitwise added: “As $BITB continues to grow, so do our contributions. Bitcoin is changing the world, and Bitwise will always be committed to doing its part as a good steward of this ecosystem.”

On the flows front, BITB has recorded $2.2 billion in total inflows since January 2024, ranking third among U.S. Bitcoin ETFs, according to data from Farside Investors. Ahead of it stand BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) with $62.4 billion and the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) with $11 billion.
