The Canadian company launches COLDCARD Mk5, a new version of its air-gapped hardware wallet featuring a Gorilla Glass display and multiple color options.

Coinkite has announced COLDCARD Mk5, the fifth generation of its hardware wallet dedicated exclusively to Bitcoin. The device introduces several improvements to the user experience without altering the security principles that made the product well known.

The most visible change concerns the display: the Mk5 features a 1.54-inch screen protected by Gorilla Glass, offering improved visual quality compared to the previous model. The keyboard has been completely redesigned, with keys providing clearer tactile feedback.

The USB-C port has been moved to the bottom of the device, a design choice that improves ergonomics when the hardware wallet is placed on a desk. NFC communication has been optimized for speed and reliability, with direct benefits for the Push TX feature, which allows signed transactions to be transmitted to a compatible mobile device without a direct connection. In addition, for the first time, the COLDCARD Mk5 will be available in multiple color variants.

Full network isolation—the air-gap principle—remains a non-negotiable feature. Private keys never come into contact with a computer connected to the internet.

Seed phrase protection relies on two Secure Elements from different manufacturers. At startup, a green or red LED signals firmware integrity. Anti-phishing measures based on unique words associated with each PIN prefix are also confirmed.

The COLDCARD Mk5 is backward compatible with Mk4 backups and workflows. The device is already available on the company’s website.
