Craig Wright’s former law firm accused him of having forged the emails previously provided by his wife to support her husband’s claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto.
The legal battle between the organization COPA and Craig Wright continues. During Monday’s proceedings, the authenticity of some emails previously presented by Wright’s wife, Ramona Watts, was debated. The emails shared during the trial concerned communications between Wright and his former law firm, Ontier LLP. According to Wright, these communications represented the definitive evidence in support of his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto.
During the courtroom debate, Wright’s former legal representatives claimed that the emails provided by his wife, presented by Shoosmiths LLP, the current law firm representing Wright, had been forged. Shoosmiths requested an opinion from Ontier during the trial to confirm the accuracy of the emails, asking if they remembered those communications. In response, Ontier stated that they had never seen those messages before, denying ever having received them.
The emails will now be analyzed by both Wright’s and COPA’s lawyers.
Changes to the Bitcoin white paper
The trial also examined the hypothesis that Wright made changes to the Bitcoin white paper. According to COPA’s lawyers, Wright would have recreated the white paper in LaTeX, making suspicious alterations. During the trial, animations were presented showing the method by which someone could have manipulated the white paper. Wright admitted that if he had to falsify it, that’s how he would have done it. Naturally, the Australian entrepreneur claimed not to have forged the document.
