JPMorgan Chase CEO, Jamie Dimon, compares Bitcoin to cigarette smoking: Edward Snowden responds in kind to the banker.
On March 11th, during his speech at the Australian Financial Review’s business summit, Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase CEO, likened Bitcoin to cigarette smoking. Dimon stated:
“I don’t know what the bitcoin itself is for, but I defend your right to smoke a cigarette, I’ll defend your right to buy a bitcoin. I won’t personally ever buy a bitcoin.”
Dimon is known for his critical remarks about Bitcoin, associating its usage with illicit activities such as human trafficking, fraud, and terrorism.
Snowden replies to Dimon
Through a post on X, Edward Snowden responded to Dimon’s statements, stating:
Despite his personal disinterest, Dimon has acknowledged the strong demand from his clients for Bitcoin. JPMorgan is actively involved in Bitcoin-related activities, serving as an Authorized Participant (AP) for BlackRock’s spot ETF.
