The Canadian mining company plans the strategic acquisition of a data center in Sweden as part of its global expansion strategy to enhance its Bitcoin mining capabilities.

HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd, a Canadian publicly traded bitcoin mining company, has announced its intention to acquire an additional data center located in Sweden.

The acquisition underscores HIVE’s aim to become a global player in the bitcoin mining sector.

HIVE has maintained over 3.94 Exahash (“EH/s”) of Bitcoin mining capacity on average for October 2023.

Details of the Acquisition

The acquisition of the data center involves a combination of cash transactions (up to $750,000) and stock transactions (up to $1.5 million). The completion of the acquisition is subject to certain conditions and obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals.

All shares issued as a result of the deal will be subject to a statutory hold period of four months and one day from the date of issuance.

The Role of Data Centers

Data centers play a crucial role in many business activities, especially those related to bitcoin mining. They host the network infrastructure required to perform the computational operations needed for bitcoin mining. By expanding its resources in this area, HIVE‘s acquisition of the Swedish data center will allow it to increase its mining capacity and better navigate the upcoming months more effectively.
