Piazza Cordusio, Bank of Italy, and Palazzo Mezzanotte: dozens of enthusiasts, disguised as Guy Fawkes, gathered in the Lombard capital displaying a banner with the message “Study Bitcoin.”
It’s 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, when a group of people disguised as Guy Fawkes gathers around two masked dancers in Piazza Cordusio, just a few steps from Milan Cathedral.
This marks the beginning of a Bitcoin-themed flash mob that quickly attracts curious passersby to the sounds of “Benvenuti al Nuovo Mondo,” a song performed live by Costa Familia. “Study Bitcoin” is the banner displayed by the participants in the flash mob, first in Piazza Cordusio, then in front of the Milan branch of the Bank of Italy, and finally in front of the Italian Stock Exchange, Palazzo Mezzanotte.
According to organizer Gianluca Fioravanti, the event is not solely aimed at capturing public attention:
“We want to stimulate a discussion on how the Bitcoin protocol can change the future of our economies and our daily lives.”
