The on-chain data platform Arkham Intelligence believes it has identified the on-chain addresses of Musk’s two companies.
Through a tweet, the on-chain analysis site Arkham Intelligence claimed to have identified the on-chain addresses of Tesla and SpaceX. According to the alleged addresses, Tesla would possess 11,509 BTC distributed across 68 addresses, while SpaceX would hold 8,285 BTC spread across 28 addresses.
Previously, Arkham successfully identified the on-chain addresses of BlackRock, Fidelity, Bitwise, Grayscale, and Franklin Templeton ETFs, as well as those of MicroStrategy and Robinhood.
Based on this data, Tesla’s holdings do not appear to be consistent with its latest earnings report. Last January, Tesla reported holding 9,720 BTC, 1,789 fewer than what appears to be present in the alleged on-chain addresses of the company.
According to some users on X, Tesla may have recently purchased bitcoin and could reveal it in the upcoming report, while others believe it may be an error in Arkham’s address identification.
In January 2021, Tesla purchased bitcoin worth $1.5 billion. The acquisition was followed by two sales: the first, in the first quarter of 2021, brought the company approximately $272 million, while the second, in the second quarter of 2022, amounted to $936 million.
Currently, Tesla is the third publicly traded company in terms of bitcoin held on its balance sheet, after MicroStrategy and Marathon Digital.
