Bitcoin’s main sidechain welcomes nine new members, promising innovative use cases and greater decentralization and security.

On July 16, the Liquid Federation announced the entry of nine new members into the federation of Bitcoin’s most important sidechain. The expansion brings the total number of participants to 73.

The new members – Alby, Botev Plovdiv, Breez, Changelly, Daedalus Labs, Ditobanx, eNor Securities, Peach Bitcoin, and Spirit of Satoshi – come from various sectors, including Lightning Network, exchanges, artificial intelligence, and digital securities.

Among the additions to the federation, Peach Bitcoin, a Swiss-based peer-to-peer exchange, is working on integrating Liquid to support buying and selling of LBTC and plans to integrate exchanges from Lightning to Liquid and vice versa using Boltz.

Adam Back, co-founder and CEO of Blockstream, the company from which Liquid Network originated, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome nine new members to the Liquid Federation. On behalf of the Liquid Federation as a whole, we look forward to the innovative new use cases these new members will bring, as we work together to cement the Liquid Network’s position at the forefront of the burgeoning Bitcoin L2 ecosystem as a complement to Lightning.”
