OCEAN bought back the co-founder’s shares after he left his role following the failure of BIP-110
OCEAN has bought back all shares held by co-founder Luke Dashjr. Dashjr resigned as president, chief technology officer and board member, according to a joint statement dated August 29. The Bitcoin Core developer, described by the source as active for 16 years, is pursuing a new mining initiative called CONVOY.
OCEAN did not disclose the buyback price, the remaining ownership structure or appointments to the vacant roles. The pool said it would continue operating transparently and on a non-custodial basis. The joint statement cited differing views following the developments around BIP-110, without specifying a proposal or another event.
At the time of reporting, CONVOY had not published enough material to verify an operating pool, including endpoints, code, participating miners, infrastructure, fees or a block template policy. No transfers from OCEAN of miners, staff beyond Dashjr or infrastructure had been announced. A Mempool.space reading at 07:07 UTC on August 30 attributed four of the previous 163 Bitcoin blocks and 29 of the previous week’s 1,007 blocks to OCEAN. These figures describe hashrate directed to the pool, not machines owned by the company.
