The bill proposed by Senator Lummis is drawing the attention of Democratic Representative Ro Khanna.

The idea of creating a national Bitcoin reserve is generating increasing interest in U.S. political debates. This proposal aims to integrate Bitcoin as an asset into the United States’ strategic financial reserves. Among the supporters of the initiative is Ro Khanna, Democratic Representative for California.

In an interview on the Unchained podcast, Representative Khanna highlighted Bitcoin’s potential for significant long-term appreciation. He suggested that bitcoins confiscated by the U.S. government could be used as a national financial reserve. According to data from Arkham Intelligence, the United States currently controls about 200,000 bitcoins, seized primarily through legal actions. Khanna emphasized how a Bitcoin reserve could offer economic resilience for the U.S. as the digital asset market expands.

The initiative to include Bitcoin in the national reserves was proposed last July by Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming. The bill would foresee the purchase of 1 million bitcoins using Treasury and Federal Reserve funds.
