The exchange executive escaped an attack at his Paris apartment.

According to RTL, on February 12, David Prinçay, president of Binance France, was the target of an attempted robbery at his residence in the Val-de-Marne department.

In the early hours of Thursday, February 12, around 7:00 a.m., three armed and masked individuals broke into a residential building in Val-de-Marne. Their objective was to reach the apartment of the head of Binance France.

However, the criminal plan showed clear signs of improvisation from the outset. In an attempt to identify the correct residence, the trio first forced their way into the apartment of an unsuspecting tenant, coercing him into indicating which unit belonged to the exchange executive.

Once inside the president’s residence, the perpetrators searched the premises, only to discover that the homeowner was not present. Frustrated, they nonetheless took two smartphones before fleeing the scene.

At 9:15 a.m. the same day, law enforcement authorities in Hauts-de-Seine received an emergency call from a resident in Vaucresson. A woman reported that she had been struck on the head with the butt of a pistol by several masked men. Investigators linked the two incidents: the phones stolen in the first attack were geolocated at the same address. Additionally, surveillance cameras confirmed that the vehicle used was identical to the one spotted earlier that morning in Val-de-Marne.

The criminal group’s incompetence surfaced again when the victim reported hearing them say phrases such as “this isn’t the right address” and “Stéphane lives at number 41.” Subsequent checks confirmed that another crypto industry entrepreneur does in fact reside at number 41 on that street.

Following the incidents, the Paris Brigade de Répression du Banditisme (BRB), together with police units from Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne, Yvelines, and the transport police, launched a joint pursuit operation. Thanks to surveillance of public transportation, the three suspects were tracked as they traveled toward Lyon by train. The Brigade de Recherche et d’Intervention (BRI) in Lyon intercepted and arrested the members of the gang at Lyon Perrache railway station. The three were immediately taken into custody.
