The issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin integrates RGB to bring USDT directly onto the Bitcoin blockchain with private and scalable transactions.

Tether announced the integration of USDT on RGB, a protocol designed for issuing digital assets directly on Bitcoin.

The RGB protocol recently went live on mainnet with the release of version 0.11.1. This technology enables asset issuance in a private, scalable, and user-controlled way.

Through this implementation, USDT can now be transferred directly on the Bitcoin network, enabling fast, private, and lightweight payments for billions of users worldwide.

The integration offers several benefits for users:

  • unified management: ability to hold and transfer USDT alongside Bitcoin in the same wallet;
  • private transactions: greater privacy in financial operations;
  • financial sovereignty: direct control over assets without intermediaries;
  • offline functionality: ability to send and receive value even without internet access.

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, commented:

“Bitcoin deserves a stablecoin that feels truly native, lightweight, private, and scalable. With RGB, USD₮ gains a powerful new pathway on Bitcoin, reinforcing our belief in Bitcoin as the foundation of a freer financial future.”
